If most of your games are at Surprise Stadium, start your accommodation search in Surprise rather than choosing a familiar Phoenix or Scottsdale address. Then compare the actual route to the stadium entrance, the room setup and the complete trip cost. A cheaper room across the Valley can mean buying a long drive every game day.
The stadium hosts the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers. For 2027, the most important booking distinction is between an announced game, a ticket that is actually on sale and a hotel reservation you can change if the plan changes.
What is confirmed for Surprise spring training in 2027?
The stadium’s 2027 schedule announcement lists 30 games from February 19 through March 20. The opener is Rangers versus Royals on Friday, February 19. Individual game tickets are scheduled to go on sale November 17, 2026.
As checked October 19, 2026, the announcement leaves game times and promotional details for later. It does not establish the final price of a particular seat. Use the official ticket path from that announcement when sales open; do not mistake an older season’s price chart or a resale listing for the current stadium offer.

An opening-weekend detail worth checking
The 2027 Surprise College Baseball Series announcement also schedules college games after the MLB game on February 19–21. Those are separate event schedules. Do not assume an MLB ticket includes the college session, or that a college ticket’s listed start time is the spring-training first pitch. Confirm admission and any between-session exit requirements before planning an all-day visit.
Choose the game before choosing the seat
Start with the date, opponent and home club, then compare the available seating. Royals and Rangers share the facility, so a team playing “away” can still be at Surprise. Conversely, following the Royals or Rangers on another date may require a different ballpark. Record the venue beside every game in your itinerary.
For a group, compare the complete checkout total for adjacent seats rather than multiplying the cheapest displayed ticket by the number of people. Ask about accessible and companion seating directly if you need it. For children, check the current age and seating requirements before assuming a lap child needs no ticket.
Shade is a seat-specific question. Ask the ticket office whether the exact section and row are expected to be shaded at the scheduled start and later in the game. “Covered concourse” and “shaded seat” describe different experiences. If someone in your party cannot comfortably stay in direct sun, resolve that before choosing a lawn ticket solely on price.
Parking: use the current entry map, not just the street address
The Surprise Stadium A–Z guide currently lists free parking. It identifies accessible parking outside the third-base gate and a rideshare loading area north of the Surprise Aquatic Center. The stadium box-office address is 15850 N. Bullard Avenue. Use the linked parking map and event instructions for the actual vehicle approach.
There is an important year trap: a Bullard Avenue closure notice describes the 2026 baseball season. Its closure dates and vehicle routing should not be copied into a 2027 itinerary. Check for a new notice before departure, and follow event staff if the approach differs from your navigation app.
Free stadium parking does not make the whole transport plan free. Count the rental car, fuel and parking at the accommodation. If using rideshare, check the designated pickup location before entering and allow for the walk back to it. Do not arrange pickup at an arbitrary stadium curb.
For wider arrival choices, compare Phoenix airport transportation before deciding whether to collect a car at the airport or use other transport for the trip.
What to bring, and what needs a call first
The stadium’s current food and beverage policy permits food presented in a one-gallon clear resealable bag, up to two factory-sealed one-liter water bottles per guest, and empty non-glass refillable bottles up to one liter. It prohibits coolers and lawn or legged chairs. Recheck the policy for your event before packing.
The published bag wording needs care: it lists a clear tote limit of 12 × 6 × 12 inches alongside a separate 8 × 10-inch bag statement. Do not treat that as approval for any ordinary backpack. A one-gallon clear resealable bag is expressly listed; if your tote, medical equipment or child’s supplies require something larger or different, ask the box office to confirm the specific bag at 623-222-2222.
Pack only what you can carry through the entry process and manage at your seat. A hat, sunscreen, water and a light layer address different parts of a long outdoor day. Check the forecast rather than assuming every February or March afternoon will feel the same.
Where to stay for Surprise Stadium

Routes to both venues, rather than distance to only one |
| Glendale or West Phoenix |
Several games at Camelback Ranch or other western venues too |
Whether the additional trips to Surprise outweigh the lodging difference |
When comparing hotels on Booking.com, enter Surprise, the full dates and everyone staying. Open the map for each property; a “Surprise area” search result is not a promise of walking access to the stadium.
For two people attending one or two games, a hotel can simplify arrival and departure. A family or group staying several nights should also price a furnished home with the required separate beds, kitchen, laundry and parking. Ask about minimum stays and the cost of cancellation. Do not assume a house costs less just because it replaces several rooms.
If your itinerary extends beyond Surprise, the Arizona spring-training accommodation overview compares the wider regions. For several venues on the same trip, use the 2027 Cactus League stadium map and itinerary comparison before committing to a base.
Compare the room saving with the extra journeys
Here is a hypothetical four-night comparison, not a local price quote. Staying farther away saves $35 per night, or $140. If three game-day return trips add $40 each in transport, the saving falls to $20 before allowing for extra travel time. If the farther property also charges $15 nightly parking, it becomes $40 more expensive overall.
Use your actual quotes and route estimates. Keep ticket costs separate if they are identical under both lodging options. For a family, include the number of rideshare vehicles required rather than assuming everyone fits in one.
A workable game-day plan
- Recheck the opponent, stadium and first-pitch time before leaving.
- Confirm that every traveler can access the ticket using the delivery method specified by the seller.
- Check the current entry map, bag policy and weather.
- Work backward from the time you want to be seated, adding parking, walking and screening separately to the driving estimate.
- Agree on the postgame pickup or meeting point before the group separates.
Do not put an essential flight departure immediately after the projected end of a game. You still need time to leave the venue, reach the airport, return a car if applicable and complete airport procedures.
Questions visitors ask
Is Surprise Stadium parking free?
The current stadium A–Z guide says parking is free. Confirm event-specific instructions for your 2027 game, especially vehicle access and any special arrangements.
Can I walk from a nearby hotel?
Possibly, but check the actual door-to-gate pedestrian route. A short map distance does not establish suitable crossings or a practical walk for your party. Ask the hotel which entrance the walking route reaches.
Should I stay in Scottsdale for Royals or Rangers games?
Only if other priorities justify the travel. For a trip mainly to Surprise Stadium, compare Surprise first. If several games are elsewhere, choose the base around the complete itinerary rather than the team name alone.
Before paying for the trip
Keep the game confirmation, accommodation terms and transport plan together. An announced schedule helps you shortlist dates; the actual ticket and lodging conditions determine the money committed. If you need a larger furnished property, send a housing inquiry with dates, party size, separate beds and vehicles so the response addresses the stay you need.
