Where to stay for the WM Phoenix Open depends on what matters most during your trip: staying close to TPC Scottsdale, going out in Old Town, keeping transportation manageable, or using the tournament as part of a longer Phoenix visit.
The 2027 WM Phoenix Open runs February 8 through February 14 at TPC Scottsdale, with the Concert in the Coliseum taking place Saturday, February 6. Tournament play begins Thursday, February 11 and concludes Sunday, February 14.
If accommodation is your priority, start by comparing hotels near TPC Scottsdale and in North Scottsdale for your tournament dates. Staying closer can reduce the amount of transportation you need to manage during a busy event week.
If nearby Scottsdale rates or availability do not work for your trip, expand your hotel search to Old Town Scottsdale and Phoenix rather than assuming you must stay beside the golf course.
Visitors combining the tournament with a longer Phoenix or West Valley stay can also browse HighVoltageArea furnished rentals.

For most visitors attending several days of the tournament, North Scottsdale is the first area to check.
That does not make it automatically right for everyone.
Staying in North Scottsdale Near TPC Scottsdale
TPC Scottsdale is at 17020 N. Hayden Road in Scottsdale, near the Loop 101 corridor.
North Scottsdale therefore gives tournament visitors the strongest geographic advantage.
Consider staying here if:
- the WM Phoenix Open is the main purpose of your trip;
- you plan to attend multiple tournament days;
- you have early-morning plans at TPC Scottsdale;
- you are attending hospitality events;
- you prefer minimizing cross-metro travel;
- you are attending evening WMPO events as well as golf.
The main disadvantage is tournament-week demand.
Do not assume the closest property will offer the best value. Compare the total stay, including room rate, resort or destination fees where applicable, parking and transportation.
If North Scottsdale is your preferred base, compare hotels near TPC Scottsdale for your tournament dates before expanding the search farther south.
Staying in Old Town Scottsdale
Old Town Scottsdale is farther south than TPC Scottsdale, but it can be a better base for visitors who want more from the trip than golf.
Old Town has a concentration of restaurants, bars, galleries, shops and entertainment. That makes it useful for groups who want somewhere to go after leaving the tournament without building every evening around the immediate TPC Scottsdale area.
Old Town Is a Good Fit If
- you are attending one or two tournament days rather than the entire week;
- restaurants and nightlife matter;
- your group includes people who are not attending the golf;
- you want to explore Scottsdale beyond TPC;
- you prefer staying in an established visitor district.
You will need to account for transportation between Old Town and the tournament.
Do not choose Old Town because someone describes it as close to the Phoenix Open. Look at the actual location of your hotel and decide how you will travel to TPC Scottsdale.

If Old Town fits your plans, compare Old Town Scottsdale hotels for your travel dates before booking.
If you have not decided between Scottsdale and Phoenix for the rest of your trip, read Phoenix vs. Scottsdale: Where Should You Stay on Your Arizona Trip?
Staying in Central Scottsdale
Central Scottsdale can provide a middle ground.
You are south of TPC Scottsdale but north of much of Old Town, depending on the property. That can work well for travelers balancing tournament access with restaurants, shopping and other Scottsdale activities.
This area deserves consideration when North Scottsdale hotels are expensive or unavailable.
The important step is to check the individual address. Scottsdale stretches a long way north to south, so a hotel carrying “Scottsdale” in its name tells you surprisingly little about its relationship to TPC Scottsdale.
Staying in Downtown Phoenix
Downtown Phoenix is not the closest base for the WM Phoenix Open.
It can still make sense if the golf tournament is only one part of a larger trip.
Downtown puts you near attractions and venues such as the Phoenix Convention Center, Footprint Center and Chase Field. It also gives you access to Valley Metro Rail for other parts of your itinerary.
However, Valley Metro Rail does not run directly to TPC Scottsdale.
A visitor staying Downtown should expect to use a car, rideshare or another transportation arrangement to reach the tournament.
Downtown Phoenix Makes Sense When
- you are attending only one day of the WM Phoenix Open;
- you have business or a convention Downtown;
- your itinerary includes Downtown Phoenix events;
- you want to explore Phoenix as well as Scottsdale;
- Scottsdale hotel availability does not suit your needs.
If you are flying into PHX, our Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport Transportation Guide explains airport connections to Phoenix, Scottsdale and the surrounding Valley.
If Downtown Phoenix works better for the rest of your itinerary, compare Downtown Phoenix hotels for your tournament dates and account for transportation to TPC Scottsdale before booking.
Should You Stay in the West Valley for the WM Phoenix Open?
If the tournament is your only reason for visiting Arizona, the West Valley would not be the first accommodation area to consider.
HighVoltageArea has rentals in Phoenix, Avondale and Surprise, but those locations are not equivalent to staying near TPC Scottsdale.
A West Valley rental becomes more logical when your trip also includes:
- family or friends in the West Valley;
- State Farm Stadium;
- West Valley Spring Training;
- work or business west of Phoenix;
- a longer Arizona stay;
- several people who benefit from having a furnished home rather than separate hotel rooms.
For example, someone spending several weeks in Arizona who plans to attend one day of the WM Phoenix Open may reasonably choose a furnished rental based on the rest of the stay rather than one golf event.
Someone flying in primarily for several days at TPC Scottsdale should normally begin the accommodation search much closer to the tournament.
If a furnished rental fits the broader trip, browse current HighVoltageArea rentals.
What About Tempe?
Tempe is another possible base, but it needs a reason.
It can make sense if your itinerary involves Arizona State University, Downtown Tempe or activities elsewhere in the East Valley.
It is not a location to select solely to improve access to TPC Scottsdale.
If your entire weekend revolves around the WM Phoenix Open, compare North and Central Scottsdale first.
How Many Days Are You Attending?
This question can change where you should stay.
One Tournament Day
If you have tickets for only one day, you have considerable flexibility.
You can stay in Phoenix, Old Town Scottsdale, Tempe or elsewhere and treat the tournament as one part of your larger vacation.
Two or Three Tournament Days
Location starts to matter more.
Repeated trips to and from TPC Scottsdale make North Scottsdale and nearby areas increasingly attractive.
Most of Tournament Week
If you plan to attend practice rounds, the pro-am and several competition days, staying near TPC Scottsdale can simplify the week.
You should also book early.
The 2027 schedule currently includes free general admission Monday and Tuesday, the Annexus Pro-Am Wednesday, and tournament rounds Thursday through Sunday.

The Birds Nest Can Affect Where You Stay
The golf is not the only event happening during tournament week.
The Coors Light Birds Nest runs Wednesday through Saturday during WM Phoenix Open week and is located next to the tournament area. It is a 21-and-over event.
If you are attending both the tournament and Birds Nest concerts, staying in North Scottsdale becomes more attractive because your day can extend well beyond the final golf shot.
If nightlife rather than the Birds Nest is your priority after the tournament, Old Town may be more appealing.
This is a good example of why the closest hotel is not automatically the right hotel.
What About the Concert in the Coliseum?
The 2027 Concert in the Coliseum takes place Saturday, February 6, before the main tournament week.
If you plan to attend the concert and remain through tournament week, your trip may span more than a week.
That makes accommodation cost more important.
Compare the price of the entire stay, not just one night’s rate. A property that looks slightly cheaper per night can create additional transportation costs if you repeatedly travel across Greater Phoenix.
How Will You Get to TPC Scottsdale?
Do not book accommodation without thinking about event transportation.
Tournament parking and traffic procedures can change from year to year. The WM Phoenix Open uses off-site parking, shuttles, rideshare arrangements and event traffic controls.
Check the tournament’s current parking and transportation information before your visit rather than relying on an old parking map or previous year’s instructions.

Flying to Phoenix for the WM Phoenix Open
Most out-of-state visitors will use Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX).
If your travel dates are flexible, compare airfare around the full tournament schedule rather than automatically arriving immediately before the first competition round and departing Sunday evening.
Compare flights to Phoenix for WM Phoenix Open week before locking in your accommodation dates.
Once your flight is booked, use our Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport Transportation Guide to compare your options for reaching Scottsdale.
Should You Add Other Scottsdale Activities?
If you have time away from the tournament, Scottsdale has activities that can fit around a golf-focused trip.
Guided desert excursions, food tours and other local experiences can be useful when part of your group is not attending every tournament round or you have an open day before or after the event.
Compare Scottsdale tours and experiences for your open days before filling the itinerary.
There is no need to schedule every free morning or evening. Tournament days can be long, particularly if you also have evening plans.
What Should You Bring to the WM Phoenix Open?
Tournament entry policies are governed by PGA TOUR and event security requirements.
Historically, the event has restricted larger opaque bags while allowing qualifying clear bags. Because security policies can change, verify the current 2027 permitted-items policy before purchasing something specifically for the tournament.
A clear stadium-style bag measuring no more than 12 x 6 x 12 inches is worth considering only after confirming that those dimensions remain approved for the 2027 event.
Do not buy a bag simply because its product listing describes it as “PGA approved.” Check the actual measurements against the tournament’s current policy.
February Weather Still Requires Planning
February weather in Greater Phoenix can produce noticeably different conditions between the morning and afternoon.
A day at a golf tournament also means prolonged outdoor exposure rather than brief walks between buildings.
Check the forecast before leaving and dress in layers appropriate to that day’s conditions.
